Feb 96 to Aug 96 Gemcrest North Pty Ltd, 17 Mile Road Helidon. Phone (07) 4697 6033. Assistant Manager under New Work Opportunities programme. Duties included daily running of a sandstone quarry, liaison with Brisbane office, ordering materials and attending to clients.
1989 to 1991 Newcastle Taxi Co-op. I drove wheelchair-accessible taxis while studying at Newcastle University, transporting disabled passengers and wheelchairs. Vehicles driven were of two types, stretched Falcons and modified Nissan Urvans. The work was challenging, stimulating, and very satisfying.
1983 to 1988 Sanitarium Health Food Company, Cooranbong, New South Wales. Leading Hand. Duties included supervision of up to six staff and Stock control. Resigned in June 1988 to pursue studies at University of Newcastle.

SUMMARY OF SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Most of my skills have been acquired through experience, and consequently I have very few certificates or other formal qualifications.
The period with Sanitarium Health Foods enabled me to develop my supervisory, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Whilst studying at the University of Newcastle, I was able to develop my research and time management skills, and further improved my abilities to communicate effectively. In addition to my studies, I learnt to use and operate MS-DOS based computers and associated software. I taught myself DOS 3.30, WordPerfect 5.0, several spreadsheets and databases. To supplement my Austudy, I became a freelance consultant, assisting in the setting up, installation and ongoing maintenance of PCs. This included installation and configuration of software, advising the client as to the most suitable software, and general support and training.
During my second year, WordPerfect was made available on the mainframe, and I took the opportunity to become familiar with VMS 5.0. Since then, I have grasped the basics of Unix, in several implementations, learnt to use Windows, and had a brief skirmish with OS2.

Although lacking in formal qualifications, I am more than able to set up a computer completely from scratch, as demonstrated by my activities mentioned above.
I have had training as a counsellor, which, when combined with my experience in the NSW State Emergency Services and Sanitarium Health Foods (detailed below), gives me excellent interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills
